Asthma/Diabetic/Heart Disease ClinicsOur practice nurses run clinics for these specific problems to help patients understand and manage their problems better. The clinics are overseen by one of the doctors.
Cervical Cytology (smear tests)It is recommended that women aged 25 – 49 have a smear test every 3 years and women 50 – 65 have one every 5 years. Smears are carried out by our fully trained practice nurses.
Child Health SurveillanceAll childhood immunisations are offered by the practice and we encourage parents to ensure that their children are fully immunised. The immunisation clinic is held on Thursday mornings.
Exercise by PrescriptionThis is a scheme run in conjunction with Hambleton Leisure Centre. You can be referred under this scheme for a programme of exercise to be devised by the staff at the gym. This is at a reduced rate and at less popular gym times. It will usually last for 24 sessions and be completed within 14 weeks. There is also a similar scheme enabling patients to use the swimming pool for 12 sessions. This scheme can be used either separately or in conjunction with the gym scheme. If you wish to be referred please ask your doctor or practice nurse.
Family Planning All doctors offer contraceptive advice, treatment and monitoring within their routine surgeries. The practice nurses are able to do routine pill checks and depo injections. Coil, cap and implant fitting is carried out by Dr Burton.
Health PromotionFor advice on lifestyle factors such as smoking, exercise, alcohol, diet and weight control please see our practice nurses who can offer specialist advice. Those patients considered to be in need of further investigations or treatment will be referred to the doctor.

This is given in the form of a tetanus, low dose diptheria and polio vaccination. Patients who have had 5 doses usually do not require further vaccination.
